(A Christmas short-story for kids 9-12 years.)

The Epic Santa Chase An Angus Adams Christmas Short Story edition by Lee M Winter Children eBooks

A truly outstanding story which the author has written for ages 9 - 12. A Nativity play in which Angus Adams stars as Joseph has just concluded and the real excitement begins at that point. Santa has stolen a bag of food meant for Goodwill and the backpack belonging to Angus with his iPad in it.

Sister Mary-Rose is in charge of the play but she takes chase along with Angus and his friend, Hamish. Hamish is dressed like a chicken, Angus has the remnants of a burlap sack and, of course, the Sister is in her habit. What a chase they go on! This part is really funny and the Nun's footwear made me laugh out loud.

I think the humor interjected at the beginning of the story as well as the different baby Jesus's that were used were hilarious. Lucy comes to mind as well as Josh and the football wrapped in a towel! And, as one will see this humor is so important to break up the ending of this outstanding story.

There are several poignant moments for the children in this one to truly learn the importance of Christmas. First, the Good Will bag was there for contributions of food items. And, the ending does have quite the surprise. In addition. Angus learns that sometimes material things aren't as important as he thought. I feel that his Mom was really happy with his decision at the end.

All in all, just an outstanding story just in time for the Christmas season. Lessons to be learned and a healthy dose of humor tossed in at the beginning.

Most highly recommended. The author has a couple of previous Angus books published so will definitely check those out next.

The Epic Santa Chase An Angus Adams Christmas Short Story edition by Lee M Winter Children eBooks Reviews

In the words of my seven-year-old son, it was really really great. The story was a good adventure with a lesson learned.
My daughter needed a winter based story for a book report. She read it all in an hour and completed her report with an A. She said it was entertaining.
WOW! What a epic Santa Chase story! With some clean
suspense in it too! I recommend this for kids from 9-12 who likes suspenseful Christmas stories and for these reasons I felt it needed five stars. I received this ebook for free and in return for it ,here now is my honest review. Super job Lee! By Angela
Very nice and exciting story for my 7 year old daughter. English level appropriate and not too difficult to understand, even for a non native speaker. I can definitely recommend it.
This is an alright short Christmas story for kids that has a lot of messages in it for the season. It didn’t grab me Since it felt forced and stilted, but other readers will perhaps enjoy it immensely.
This short Christmas season story features Sister Mary-Rose (nun), and boys Angus and Hamish. The nativity play is over and Angus, who played Joseph, is looking for his backpack to put baby Jesus (doll) away. He spots a thin and rather dirty looking Santa walking away with the Goodwill food. Is that Angus' backpack in his hand?! Sister Mary-Rose, Angus and Hamish take off running after the thief. Angus is annoyed with himself for leaving his backpack containing his iPad unattended.

When Sister's habit gets caught in the escalator, it's up to Angus and Hamish to stop the thief who is now boarding a train. Hamish is still dressed as a chicken with nothing underneath and it is not long before he is out of the "race". Will Angus find the thief? What will happen when he does?

This is a lovely, sensitive story providing a new perspective on how some of the poor folks live. Good for kids to see other kids being kindhearted. Wonderful, well-written story. Written by an Australian author. Thanks, Liz
Here's the set-up for this spine-tingling yet humorous Christmas story set in Australia. Our hero boy Angus is helping out on the Christmas play involving a creche with a representation of the baby Jesus. A plastic doll this year, not a football wrapped in a blanket like last year. Or a bawling, poopy baby like the year before. Holding the doll in his hand, Angus places his backpack along with his iPad near the mall Christmas tree by the Goodwill gift bag.

So there's "Santa" by the mall Christmas tree. And he steals the Goodwill gift bag AND Angus' backpack! Angus, his best friend Hamish (dressed in a giant chicken costume), and Sister Mary-Rose chase after the thief all over the mall. In the sweltering heat the pursuit continues, scattering fake fir trees and snow, a reindeer display made of Lego blocks. Then out of the mall, into the street, to the train station--after the thief! But he blends into a marching band and parade of hundreds of Santas!

Much more to come -- quite a scene as Angus pursues "Santa." Much fun to see all that in my imagination, but a few illustrations would've helped. I was not satisfied with the trite ending -- overdone exaggeration and unrealistic. But enjoy the ride--the CHASE--actually, with its nun with flowing robe, a chicken, a boy holding a plastic doll, and a skinny Santa. I think you'll catch the Christmas spirit!
